Does your laptop over heat then shutdown on its own?
It may be time to have your cooling system checked out. This is an inexpensive repair that can save you from having to replace your motherboard in the future.
Many people have problems with their laptop computers shutting down unexpectedly, restarting randomly, “Blue Screening” (BSOD), becoming extremely hot to touch and more. When people experience those symptoms, many mistake them for: spyware, drivers problems, viruses and more.
The GOOD thing is, we will teach you how to preventĀ laptop overheating, so if you ever experience any of the aforementioned problems, you know that HEAT won’t be the cause!
Laptops are smaller than desktops, thus have much less room for cooling. The cooling fans are usually located near the middle bottom of the laptop, which causes heat from the cooling fans to be blown out of the bottom of the computer.Ā
This explains why your lap gets “warm” or “hot” when sitting a laptop on it for long periods of time. That actually contributes to your laptop overheating. Also, placing your laptop on any “cloth” surface such as bed covers, clothing, carpet, etc; can cause insufficient heat dissipation and can cause your laptop to overheat. Once again, an overheating laptop can shut down, restart randomly, Blue Screen and/or cause permanent and expensive hardware damage.
If you are having overheating problems with your system here are a few things to check:
- Have you recently installed new hardware into your computer?
- Itās possible any new hardware added to the machine could cause issues.
- Does your computer have a virus or malware?
- Make sure that the fan on the power supply is working for desktops.
- Are the other fans inside your computer running properly (processor fan or heatsink, video card fan, and case fans?
- Sometimes your fan will make louds sounds and that would indicate that it isĀ notĀ running optimally.
- Does your computer boot properly?
- It is possible that a damaged operating system is causing the hardware to function improperly.
- Try a system reinstallation.
- Is the inside of your computer dirty or dusty?
***Ā Before removing any hardware, make sure you are not encountering this issue because of hardware conflicts. Ā You can do this by checking the Device Manager for errors.Ā ***
